photographer. 2012 saw the beginning of his illustrious Logbuch Series,
for which he has been travelling regularly to exotic destinations over
the past and coming years.
İlkin Karacan Karakuş (Turkey)
İlkin Karacan Karakuş is a director and freelance photographer living
in Istanbul. Starting as an assistant, he gradually progressed to
directing and has produced over 100 music promos as well as being
involved in three large cinema projects. With his extensive experience
in advertising and the professional cinema industry, he always knew
that photography would come into his life at some point, and in 2012
he began to travel the world with his camera. His goal is to show the
unseen from his own perspective and give people the feeling of being
there themselves.
Mārcis Baltskars (Latvia)
Photography for Mārcis is not simply a job, but a lifestyle, and through
this he has gained popularity and artistic recognition as a wedding
photographer. Still his greatest passion, he has been shooting for
11 years and every achievement leads to setting even higher goals.
In his own words, his biggest challenge in his day-to-day work is
surpassing himself: ‘I go to every photoshoot with one thought – to
be better than I have been, to create something new so that every
client I work with can feel special. I’m aware that I am an idealist – very
demanding of myself and others, and the feedback that I get from
people after they’ve received their photos is the greatest prize and
the main motivation.’ His professional spectrum is very wide, covering
not only weddings, but also portrait, reportage and interior design
photography. During his free time, Mārcis is especially fascinated by
nature photography and he also holds lectures and workshops, sharing
his experience.
Mine Kasapoğlu (Turkey)
Mine Kasapoğlu is a freelance sports photographer based in Istanbul
and Vienna and has been covering the Olympic games since 2002. As a
former snowboard national team member herself, she is fascinated by
the action and emotions that take over while competing. She delights
in capturing decisive moments.
Giovanni Auletta (Italy)
Originally hailing from Milan, Italy, Giovanni began his career in the
cinema industry, having graduated in visual communication. Driven
by a passion for sports, he joined Pentaphoto - a leading Italian photo
agency in winter sports coverage – as a staff photographer. During the
course of his career, Giovanni has covered the world’s major sporting
events, including the winter and summer Olympics, skiing, skating, and
Nordic Ski World Championships, along with 15 seasons of the cycling
Tour of Italy. He has also worked for the Associated Press since 2000
and his images were included in the AP special selection of the world’s
best images from 2015–2018.
Tomasz Tomaszewski (Poland)
Tomasz Tomaszewski has a Ph.D. from the Academy of Fine Arts in
Warsaw and is a member of the Union of Polish Art Photographers, the
Visum Archiv Agency of Hamburg, Germany, the National Geographic
Creative Agency of Washington D.C., and the American Society of
Media Photographers. He specialises in journalistic photography and
has had his photos published in major newspapers and magazines
worldwide including National Geographic Magazine, Stern, Paris
Match, GEO, New York Times, Time, Fortune, Elle and Vogue. He has
also authored a number of books, including Remnants: The Last
Jews of Poland, Gypsies: The Last Ones; In Search of America, In the
Centre, Astonishing Spain, A Stone’s Throw, Overwhelmed by the
Atmosphere of Kindness and Things that last, and has co-illustrated
over a dozen collective works. He has held numerous individual
exhibitions in the USA, Canada, Israel, Japan, Brazil, Madagascar, the
Netherlands, Germany, France, Italy, Indonesia and Poland. Tomasz is
the recipient of many Polish and international awards for photography.
For over twenty years he has been a regular contributor to National
Geographic Magazine USA, in which eighteen of his photo essays have
been published. Tomasz has taught photography in Poland, the USA,
Germany and Italy.
Jorge Miguel Jaime Báez (Spain)
Barcelona-born Jorge Miguel Jaime has an obsession for looking for
the ‘why’ of things and has a passion for photography in its most
documentary aspect. He alternates his professional social photography
work with personal projects involving religious faith all over the world.
His life is based on telling the stories he has in front of him every
weekend and with the challenge of reaching the hearts of the people
who trust him.
David Bastianoni (Italy)
Describing himself as a storyteller, David Bastianoni is a luxury
wedding photographer based in Florence, Italy. Born into a family
of photographers, he learned by experience, working with his uncle
and father, how to narrate realism of feelings through images. This
strong grounding made David ask himself important questions –
questioning the gap between working as a photographer and being
a photographer, challenging himself and stretching his abilities. His
Tuscan origins influenced his education – rooted in the study of linear
perspective of the Renaissance, and his artistic research has always
been based on the great masters as food for thought for his personal
experience, which he transforms into a picture able to engrave a
fragment of history in the flow of time. Being able to travel and to
shoot different cultures makes him, as he loves to define himself,
a privileged observer, an aesthete able to step into the life of his
newlyweds for one day and add his signature style to the story of an
unknown person.
Will Burrard-Lucas (UK)
Will Burrard-Lucas is a wildlife photographer from the UK. His passion
for Africa and its wildlife took root at a young age, having spent several
years of his childhood growing up in Tanzania. Fifteen years later,
whilst at university, the advent of affordable digital cameras saw Will
take up photography. Within a short space of time his new interest in
photography had merged with his passion for the natural world and,
whenever possible, he would travel to photograph wildlife. At the same
time, he started using the internet to share images and build his brand.
By 2010, the foundations of his business had been established and he
took the leap to become a full-time wildlife photographer. Will aims
to inspire people to celebrate and conserve the natural wonders of
our planet.
Kenton Thatcher (Portugal)
Kenton Thatcher is an internationally acclaimed award-winning
contemporary and advertising portrait photographer. Born in London,
England he soon became immersed in the world of photography,
thanks to his father’s obsession with the camera and darkroom. At the
ripe young age of just 17, he started travelling the world and assisted
many renowned and celebrated photographers. His last assignment
before ‘going it alone’ was assistant to international photographer Clive
Arrowsmith on one of the prestigious and iconic Pirelli Calendar shoots.
Although always on the move, Kenton is now based in Lisbon, Portugal
where he has lived for the last 23 years and built up an impressive
reputation as an exceptionally talented portrait photographer. His
impressive portfolio includes captivating images of iconic high-profile
international personalities such as Cristiano Ronaldo, Maria Sharapova,
Jose Mourinho and Pierce Brosnan, to name a few. Kenton is also
actively involved in supporting various important high profile charitable
organisations such as the Save The Children Fund, FTBC (Fashion
Targets Breast Cancer) and recently, APAV Victim Support.
Páll Stefansson (Iceland)
Based in Reykjavík, Iceland, Páll Stefánsson has been practicing
photography for more than 35 years. In 1982, he was hired as
photographer for the magazine Iceland Review in Reykjavík, Iceland,
and later moved on to also becoming picture editor. Since 2009, he
has been chief editor of the magazine Iceland Review/Atlantica, the
largest magazine in English in Iceland. His work has appeared in
many international publications, including Time, National Geographic,
Newsweek, Geo, W, Sunday Times Magazine and the Observer
Magazine, to name a few. In February 2014, Páll was awarded
Photographer of the Year in Iceland, among numerous international
and domestic photography awards and he has published more than 35
books - the latest being Africa – The Future of Football, with a forward
by Didier Drogba. In 2013, he also published photo books about
Finland, Denmark, Sweden and Norway for the National Geography
books in Germany. He is currently working on a book about the
Icelandic landscape.
Martin Trenkler (Slovakia)
Martin has been a freelance photographer since 2002, when he started
covering the Formula 1 World Championship. He was an apprentice of
the sport’s two most legendary photographers – Rainer Schlegelmilch
and Paul-Henri Cahier. Through them he learned not only how to shoot
motor racing, but how photography is all about philosophy - how we
view the world around us. This very intense and challenging sport
taught Martin how to create both art and quality documentary photos
in a very efficient way: speed and flexibility are the key elements.
Martin especially enjoys documentary portraits, emotions and play
of light. Acting fast in an ever-changing environment (not just F1) is a
challenge he strives for.
Terry Donnelly (UK)
Terry is a UK-based photographer who has had a love for photography
since childhood. His career path took him away from his passion until
2006, when he became a working photographer. The two genres
of photography Terry enjoys most are environmental portraiture
and sports photography. He is the holder of three Fellowships and
a Master’s in Photography, including a fellowship with the Royal
Photographic Society (FRPS) and has had work exhibited in over
25 countries.
Thomas Kakareko (Germany)
Thomas Kakareko is a Berlin-based photographer and content creator
with a strong passion for urban and street photography. He started
to photograph in October 2010 shortly after joining Instagram. Ever
since he has become one of Germany’s most followed and recognized
Instagram Photographers. Today Thomas creates content for some
of the world’s most renowned brands. His pictures have been shown
in various exhibitions around the world and featured in various
newspapers, magazines and blogs.
Murat Pulat (Turkey)
Murat Pulat is a documentary photographer based in Istanbul and
photography has been his major passion since his teenage years.
To document human interactions and life itself has been the most
attractive aspect of photography for him. With the empathy he has and
with his detailed oriented, precise way of looking at life, he has created
many award-winning images. He has also educated many photography
enthusiasts and opened many eyes to his field.
Vassil Nikolov (Bulgaria)
Vassil Nikolov is a wedding and portrait photographer from Bulgaria
and has been a professional photographer for over 12 years. He likes to
capture the emotions, feelings and moods of his models and having
shot over 400 weddings in Bulgaria and Europe. He is at his happiest
capturing the most valuable moments for the couples. He has had five
solo exhibitions and participated in dozens of other photo exhibitions,
as well as teaching photography to young amateurs and fellow
professionals for nine years in various seminars and courses.
Süha Derbent (Turkey)
Born in Istanbul in 1963, Süha Derbent has been working as a
professional photographer for 30 years, having begun his career as
a journalist, before moving into photojournalism. After working as a
visual director for Gezi National Geographic Traveller magazine, he
grew increasingly more interested in capturing travel and wildlife
photography and has worked in over 80 countries. Chasing wildlife and particularly big cats – he has travelled across a number of countries
in pursuit of his images and he lived with, and photographed, a
family of mountain gorillas for 10 days in 2015. Alongside publishing
two books – Face to Face in 2002 and The Wild Side of Kenya in 2016,
Derbent also provides consultancy services and organises customised
travel packages for individuals looking to visit wildlife areas across the
world. Recently, Derbent has been writing for the Sunday supplement
of the Vatan newspaper (Travel with Süha Derbent), and his personal
archives hold more than two million photographs, many of which are
also available on Getty Images.
Karol Wójcicki (Poland)
Karol is passionate about the night sky. An astronomy populariser,
science journalist, TV presenter and creator of the biggest polish
astronomy Facebook fanpage ‘Z głową w gwiazdach.’ He travels across
the world searching for stunning astronomical phenomenon such as a
sun eclipse or auroras.
Jack Harding (UK)
Jack Harding is a British photographer with a background in the
automotive and banking sector. He is most known for his beautiful
landscape images and how he captures special moments within
these fantastic places in his unique photographic style. He has been
based in both the UK and Scandinavia, spending most of the year
across various locations globally. Jack likes to portray his experiences
through his images, often looking for minimalistic and clean scenarios.
Jack’s images really aim to stop time and capture those split-second
moments we often forget.
Cormac Ryan Meenan (Ireland)
Cormac Ryan Meenan is a 26-year-old self-taught freelance
photographer specialising in covering the MotoGP World
Championship. He strives to capture the very essence of what he’s
shooting – the atmosphere, the sense of excitement and passion that
MotoGP gives off from every corner of the globe. Cormac uses the
MotoGP World Championship to show off the poetry of high speed
motorcycle racing and the intrinsic balance of athlete and machine
both at the peak of their performance.
Pablo Gil (Spain)
Pablo Gil is a photographer specialising in advertising, food, product
and portrait photography, and has over 20 years’ experience working
in the audiovisual sector. He currently runs his own audiovisual
production company, Kamándula Producciones, and collaborates
with different advertising agencies and post-production houses in
the sector, developing projects such as Photographer and Director of
Photography (DoP) in advertising for TV and VideoNET. His recent work
covers editorials for fashion and food, along with numerous advertising
campaigns for large Spanish brands and multinationals, as well as
collaborations with some of the most renowned Michelin-starred chefs
in the country.
Gustav Kiburg (Netherlands)
Rotterdam-born, Gustav is a passionate wildlife photographer based
in the Netherlands. He loves travelling to remote places to fuel the
passion for his photography and is a perfectionist – spending days
just waiting for that right moment to take that single perfect shot. He
always tries to ‘get it right’ on camera, preferring next to no processing
on his images. Gustav has been an avid Sony user since the early days,
working with Minolta and the Alpha 700 camera, and his work has
been published in photographic magazines all over the world. He loves
talking and teaching photography techniques and gear and he often
speaks at exhibitions and events. His knowledge of Sony equipment
is second to none and he enjoys using both A and E mount models.
‘Sony’s rapidly increasing new technology like the Sony
allows me
to never miss that perfect moment anymore,’ he says.
Ole Jorgen Liodden (Norway)
Ole J Liodden of Norway is a pro wildlife photographer who has carried
out more than 100 photo expeditions – mainly in the Polar regions.
Ole has published eight books about nature and photography. His
images have received awards in prestigious competitions as Wildlife
Photographer of the year (Winner in 2012) and the German GDT photo
contest. He was awarded Arctic Photographer of the Year 2012 by the
Global Arctic Award.
